The Mississippi Business Journal recently reported that Richard A. Sun, CFA, was named the AITP’s Mississippian of the Year in 2018. The Jackson chapter or CompTIA’s Association of Information Technology Award Professionals presented him with the award during a ceremony at Anjou Restaurant in Ridgeland.
Sun is the former chairman of the board at Innovate Mississippi and its first Entrepreneur in Residence; he won the award as a co-founder of the Mississippi Coding Academies, where he’s a member of the board of directors and the director of the Jackson-area cohorts.
“I am honored to be recognized for what we have achieved with Mississippi Coding Academies,” said Sun, according to the Mississippi Business Journal.
Sun noted the institutions involved in making the Mississippi Coding Academies a success: the Mississippi Development Authority, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and Mississippi State University, among others. He also praised the coding academies’ instructors, along with the “coders, the Jackson Public School District, and other funders and supporters.”
Innovate Mississippi sincerely thanks AITP Jackson for honoring one of our own, and the Mississippi Business Journal for the coverage.
