InnovateMEP Mississippi announces a Mississippi Make It In America Reshoring Workshop will take place Thursday, October 30, at the Mississippi Delta Community College Capps Center in Indianola. The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., is free to attend and will include lunch.
“We are thrilled to be coming to Indianola to present our Mississippi Make It In America supplier development and decision process,” said Jay Tice, Ph.D., vice president of Innovate Mississippi and director of InnovateMEP Mississippi.
The Reshoring Workshop is part of the Mississippi Make It In America effort to encourage Mississippi manufacturers to reshore jobs back to Mississippi. Reshoring is achieved when firms move production that had previously been offshored back to the United States by selecting domestic suppliers or bringing production in-house.
“The Reshoring Workshops are a key element of our Mississippi Make It In America program,” said Joe Jordan, Ph.D., innovation practice manager of InnovateMEP Mississippi. “The purpose is to bring together regional manufacturers to discuss how we can work together to bring back manufacturing jobs to Mississippi.”
Companies interested in pursuing reshoring are encouraged to schedule an additional morning or afternoon breakout session. These sessions will provide an opportunity for OEM and supplier companies to work with the Mississippi Make It In America team to identify opportunities to strengthen their collective supply chains. Mississippi Make It In America is funded by a collaborative $2.2 million grant funding from the Economic Development Administration (U.S. Department of Commerce), the Employment Training Administration (U.S. Department of Labor), the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Hollings Manufacturing Extension Program and the Delta Regional Authority. This is one of 10 such grants awarded nationally.
