Pitch your startup for a chance to win cash and in-kind prizes in the 2019 Mississippi New Venture Challenge.
(Jackson, Miss.) Innovate Mississippi will present the 11th Annual Mississippi New Venture Challenge Pitch Competition Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, MS.
Approximately 30 Mississippi innovators and technology entrepreneurs will compete in this rapid-fire contest, pitching their pioneering business ideas to a distinguished panel of judges comprised of the state’s top entrepreneurs and investors. The participants should represent startup or existing companies with innovation-based new venture opportunities. There will be three categories of competition that include: a student division, pre-revenue division, and post-revenue division.
“The New Venture Challenge is an incredible opportunity to see dozens of Mississippi’s emerging companies all pitching in the same venue,” said Tony Jeff, president and CEO of Innovate Mississippi. “Anyone wanting to learn about, connect with, mentor or invest in these companies should come spend the afternoon seeing first-hand what impressive Mississippi startups look like.”
Participants will be screened and selected prior to the event, then placed with a mentor who will assist them in preparing for the competition. Mentors include angel investors and business professionals and are matched with participants based on their areas of expertise and experience. Judging will be based on the executive summary and the team’s live PowerPoint presentation.
There will be 3 winners from each division, and cash prizes are awarded to the winning teams. The participants also vie for in-kind professional services from supporting service providers such as attorneys, accountants, and web designers to help grow their business.
The 2019 Mississippi New Venture Challenge is free and open to the public. It begins at 1 p.m. and concludes with a networking reception immediately following the competition where the winners will be or announced.
