Matt Bolian, project manager at C Spire, is a millennial who has returned home to Mississippi to work.
But, in this talk at the Conference on Technology Innovation, he warns that he’s among the few millennials who stay or return to Mississippi, and that once educated young adults move from the state, they’re less and less likely to come back.
In order to convince them to stay—or entice them to return—Mississippi companies need to focus on offering the benefits and environments that millennials are being offered in other parts of the country and around the world.
And Mississippi’s economic developers need to focus on improving urban environments and making dynamic city life an important part of attracting the knowledge workers to places like Jackson. With those workers in place, the modern companies will follow.
