Crowdfunding has increasingly become a viable source of capital for entrepreneurs and artists seeking to see their dreams come to fruition, their creative endeavors accomplished, their unique products widely distributed.
One of the most successful platforms for for acquiring risk-free startup capital, social media marketing and free advertising is the online crowdfunding company Kickstarter.
Like its contemporaries Indiegogo, Patreon and GoFundMe, Kickstarter offers potential donors with tiered options for giving. CEO Yancey Strickler has himself invested in more than 2,000 projects, and Kickstarter has funded more than 200 projects in Mississippi.
Strickler will speak in Jackson on Aug. 24 at the Greater Jackson Arts Council’s luncheon, “Resist and Thrive: Creativity, The Public Good and Making Good Ideas Happen.”
