Jim brings over 20 years of operational and investing experience to Mortgage Trade. His career started at Eastman Chemical Company where he held positions in sales and ecommerce strategy before moving into Eastman Ventures. There he sourced, evaluated, and monitored venture investments on behalf of the company and triggered his passion for the startup technology environment.
Jim recruited and operated the Mississippi Angel Network while working at the Mississippi Technology Alliance. He is still actively participates in the Angel Network while also volunteering to evaluate recipients of the State of Mississippi’s Seed Investment Fund.
As General Manager of Global Security Systems, Jim led the growth of the company’s customer base from a single state to over 200 state and local governments who used the ALERT FM emergency notification system. He then joined FNC in January 2015 and soon joined the team tasked with the sale of the company. A transaction was negotiated with a large public company during the fall of 2015. The transaction was closed in April 2016 after regulatory hurdles were cleared.
Jim is a chemical engineering graduate of Mississippi State University and added an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
