Vicksburg, MS – (October 23, 2014) – Falco Lime, a division of Mississippi Lime Company, held a Manufacturing Day event at its plant in Vicksburg. Many area students and community members attended, including Mayor George Flaggs. The event was held to illustrate the impact of manufacturing in Vicksburg.
Nationwide, Manufacturing Day is hosted by hundreds of manufacturing companies. It is designed to address the skilled labor shortage they face; connect with future generations; take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.
Visitors went on a plant tour to see how products are moved from a plant in Ste. Genevieve, MO to Vicksburg by river barge, and then distributed or remanufactured at the Falco Lime site. Visitors also had a chance to see demonstrations and hear remarks by William H. Ayers, President and Chief Operating Officer of Mississippi Lime Company.
“It was remarkable to have so many community members join us for Manufacturing Day. I really enjoyed getting to share our company story and the importance of manufacturing to Vicksburg,” said Eustace Conway, Director of Southern Sales and Logistics.
