The U.S. Small Business Administration, or SBA, is supporting a new program to help women and minority entrepreneurs with SBIR grants.
Federal SBIR grants are almost the only grants available for small businesses, and while Mississippi businesses are generally underserved in receiving these grants, women and minority-owned businesses are particularly underserved. For that reason, Innovate Mississippi is announcing a new program to connect Mississippi women and minority entrepreneurs to world-class researchers and to better prepare our state’s minority and women researchers to compete for these grants.
In conjunction with the MS-FAST Program, which provides assistance and funding to better prepare winning Mississippi SBIR applications, Innovate Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi’s Business & Innovation Assistant Center will offer a weekly series of webinars and one-on-one office hours targeting women and minority SBIR candidates. Women and minority researchers are invited to participate, and women and minority companies that are interested in connecting with world-class researchers are also the target audience.
This program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and will focus on connecting researchers and business experts to the resources and information they need to successfully participate in the federal SBIR program.
