Even after nearly three decades of teaching science to elementary school students, Vicki Moorehead still feeds off inquisitive kids who throw nonstop questions at her. The Canton native, who has taught at St. Anthony Catholic School since the facility opened its doors in 2009, was one of two Mississippi teachers who won the annual Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching last fall.
“Truly what keeps it fresh for me … is seeing how excited the kids get when they learn something new, and their natural curiosity about everything around them,” Moorehead said. “They are the ones that help drive the instruction by what they want to know, and I love to see them dive right in to the find answers.”
