Innovate Mississippi was pleased to be a part of the the 2nd Annual Health Innovation and Transformation Forum hosted by the University of Mississippi Medical Center on Tuesday, May 21 at the Norman C. Nelson Student Center on UMMC’s campus.
The HIT Forum is an interactive event where health innovators from UMMC and across the state shared their ideas for improving the health of Mississippians and featured a startup pitch competition for innovative health care solutions from anywhere in the world.
Two winners were announced. The WeHealth prize, including a trip to Plug and Play in California, went to Annie Morrow of GraciYes. The Innovate prize, which includes coaching and incubation support from Innovate Mississippi, went to Teresha Clayton of Engage 360.
Innovate Mississippi will work with the winner from the pitch competition to develop their businesses. Also at the conference, CEO Tony Jeff announced the Central Mississippi Angel Fund, and Innovate’s commitment to work with UMMC to find healthcare-oriented startup businesses that might be able to take advantage of that fund to find angel investors.
