WDAM TV covered the first CoBuilders partner pitch this past weekend with a great story by reporter Will Polston. The startup competition, hosted by the Mississippi Polymer Institute and the University of Southern Mississippi, is sending two winning companies to the CoBuilders 12-week accelerator this summer.
“A lot of these folks are small, they’re financing things with their money. So $7,500 brought in from outside money will be very helpful to them,” MPI assistant director Robert Thompson told WDAM. “The main benefit of winning is the 12-week program in Jackson that they’ll go through to help them grow their business and continue on, hopefully, making them more likely to succeed.”

On the heels of the Hattiesburg event are several pitch events and application periods around the state:
- Companies interested in representing Oxford in the statewide Co-Builders cohort should submit an application by April 11, 2022.
- Higher Purpose Business Membership applications are now being accepted. Black-owned Mississippi businesses should complete the membership application by March 31, 2022.
- Teams pitch The MSU Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach CoBuilders this week in Starkville, Miss.
- As a partner in the CoBuilders Accelerator, the WBC at JSU will collaborate with The Bean Path, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to provide assistance to companies in Jackson and the surrounding areas. Pitch Event will be held in mid-April.
- The Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Pitch Event will be broadcast live on Facebook and will feature an audience participation vote on April 13, 2022.
