We wanted to let our readers know about a great WLBT story this past week focused, in part, on the growth of entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic and associated challenges to conducting “business as usual.” WLBT’s Roslyn Anderson reported the story, headlined “During the Pandemic, Mississippians Left Their Day Job to Start Their Own Businesses.”
The report highlights the work of two Mississippi entrepreneurs that Innovate Mississippi has worked with—Kristen Allen of Bloombridge and Raj Ramarao. Kristen’s Flowers To the Grave startup has pivoted into Bloombridge, which re-launched this year and now works in 30 states to deliver flowers to gravesites. Raj Ramarao, will launch MoonshineMS.com in November.
Anderson interviewed Innovate Mississippi CEO and President Tony Jeff, who pointed out that many entrepreneurs have taken the leap from their day job into their own startup with help from Innovate Mississippi.
“We’ve had a lot of companies [that] have had side hustles for a while, that now are really jumping in with both feet, and really interested in trying to grow those into real businesses,” Jeff said.
We thank Ms. Anderson and WLBT for shining a light on these Mississippi entrepreneurs as well as our efforts here at Innovate Mississippi. See the full report here.
